Dynamic Link Library
Just about all [Windows] based applications are made up of a core process (EXE) and 
are extended by the use of DLLs. 
Some larger Windows applications will use dozens or even hundreds of DLLs. 
Tcl C/C++ based Windows extensions are DLLs.
