I was introduced to Tcl/Tk at BYU [http://www.byu.edu] in 2001 in a class on speech technology. I have also programmed some in BASIC, Pascal, C, Java, and Visual Basic, but IMHO Tcl is by far the funnest programming language I've used. I received a BA in linguistics with a minor in language and computers. Among other things, I learned that "funnest" is a word--in my idiolect, anyway (read up on descriptive grammar [http://www.bartleby.com/68/45/4745.html] if you're interested). Tcl is a great language for linguists. I work at the University of Washington [http://www.washington.edu] where I help process brain imaging data. My wiki comments will generally be identified by [aricb]. My first name is not pronounced the same as "Eric" -- the A sounds like the A in "car". ---- [Category Person]
