[EF] The splash library [http://code.google.com/p/efr-tools/source/browse/#svn%2Ftrunk%2Fefr-lib%2Fsplash] 
implements a new [Tcl/Tk] [toplevel] [widget] that aims at showing one (or
more) [splash screen]s during the initialisation phase of an application
or any other lengthy operation.

The library opens a pseudo-widget and offers a number of configuration
options to control the appearance and behaviour of the splash window.
The splash library is similar to the library available from
[Adding a splash screen to a Starkit], but a complete re-write.
The splash library is a more lightweight implementation that does not spawn a
separate process for the opening of the splash window.

The splash library is currently at version 0.3 .
