My name is [Igal Vigonich] and this is my public page on this wiki. All are welcome!!! ------ So, why am I here? According to this wonderful wiki, which I discovered just about a week ago, 15 years of using Tcl apparently make me a Tcl'er. And after reading it since, I feel that I might have something to say and maybe even do. So here I am, in my first ever endeavor of this kind, to see how it goes. More later... ------ [PYK] 2016-03-30: Greetings, Igal! How on Earth did you manage to use Tcl for 15 years before you discovered The Wiki?! Thanks Nathan! As for your question, I guess I'm just an old-timer. When I started with Tcl in 1997 there was a hard-copy of the classical "Programming with Tcl/Tk" book going around in my department and I just learned it from there and later used locally installed docs when necessary. Just never thought of looking up the community. Now I think I probably should have as there is a lot of interesting stuff here. ------ ****References of interest**** * [http://www.tcl.tk/man/tcl8.6/contents.htm%|%Official Tcl/Tk Documentation] * [http://www.tcl.tk/man/tcl8.6/TclCmd/contents.htm%|%Official Tcl Commands] * [http://www.tcl.tk/man/tcl8.6/TclCmd/Tcl.htm%|%Official Tcl Syntax] * [Dodekalogue] - The 12 Rules * [http://tiswww.case.edu/php/chet/bash/bashref.html%|%Bash Reference Manual] * ... ****Created pages**** * ... ****Thoughts**** * A Fully Backward Compatible Extension Of Tcl Syntax * Data versus Arguments * Strings versus Lists * exec, eval, subst, concat, join, split, etc... * Comments * Flexibility of Syntax as a Limiting Factor * Language Design versus Usage * Levels of Abstraction * Architecture * A Unified Data Model * The Curse of * Quoting * Coding Style * ... ------ <>Tcl'ers
