Version 23 of wxTcl

Updated 2008-12-03 21:47:13 by RLH

What: wxTcl

 Where: http://www.multimania.com/awaken
Description: The wx is a new GUI extension to Tcl, based on wxWindows and
wxGTK. Its intention is to provide a developer with an extension
able to provide a native look and feel, contemporary looking
programming constructs, AND still be able to operate within a normal
        Tcl and Tk application!
The developer has discontinued development of it, but the source
        is available from <URL: mailto:[email protected] >
if someone would like to continue work on it....

escargo 11 Jul 2005 - Just wanted to point to the Wx Widgets home page [L1 ]. It would be interesting to know how well SWIG would gobble up the Wx Widgets code to produce an alternative binding that Tcl could use.

Maybe it is easier to make a binding to the wx-c.dll of the wx.NET-project on [L2 ]. This static library of the WxWidgets also exists for Linux and MacOS.

escargo 11 Jul 2005 - It would be interesting to know the performance and complexity tradeoffs of the different methods for binding Tcl and the Wx Widgets. (I know that SWIG needs certain wrappers, but I don't know what the wx-c.dll binding would require.)

VK 12-jul-2005 While interesting ideas indeed, lack of sources is surprising. May be it is possible creating SF project, and making everyone who is interesting to be able to participate? Personally, I hardly can spent many time on this, but I can bother organizing a project on SF.

RLH 28-Aug-2005: I have talked to the author. The bottom line is the code is lost.

RLH 02-Sept-2005: I have created a wxTcl sourceforge project. It should show up soon. I have one C++ programmer that is very interested in seeing a wxTcl binding go forward. if you want to join the project let me know at: robert DOT hicks AT gmail DOT com

Scott Beasley 12-03-2008 - Is the source for this package about anywhere? RLH I believe the answer is no. While this project fizzled as well, I did talk with the original wxTcl author and he did not have the source.
