The comp.lang.tcl newsgroup continues to amaze me with its wide range of topics covered. As an example, here's the recipe for chocolate cream, recently posted by Pat Thoyts, in a thread on reasons why people haven't gotten around to doing the work to make itcl a part of the tcl distribution!
Make a custard using some egg yolks beaten with sugar and a little cornflour and pouring on some hot milk. Add a bar of melted 70% cocoa chocolate (or some similar good chocolate) and stir in. Allow to cool then pour into your ice-cream maker or freeze in a tub and beat regularly.
Eat.
PT adds: While we are at recipes, I have the following mail I posted to a friend:
1 Mandarin Sorbet
Make up syrup by mixing 5 fl.oz. water and 5 oz sugar and bring to the boil. Allow to cool. Blend an 8oz tin of mandarins in juice and add 4 fl.oz. syrup. Allow to cool or refrigerate for a bit before churning in your ice cream machine.
2 Mint Choc Chip
Make up a custard by blending 2 egg yolks with 1 heaped teaspoon of cornflour and a little milk from 1 pint half milk half cream. Heat the remaining milk to boiling and pour over the eggs whilst stirring vigorously then pour back into the pan and simmer for 30 seconds or so. Stir in 4 oz caster sugar. Allow to then add about 1 tablespoon of peppermint essence (you need a lot - being frozen reduces the intensity of the flavour) and grate in 100g bar of 70% chocolate. Add some green colouring to a fairly dark green colour (it'll lighten) and freeze in ice-cream maker.
3 Black Cherry Frogourt
Mix an 8oz can of black cherry pie filling with a 1pt pot of yoghourt and add 3oz (ish) of caster sugar. Greek yoghourt may be better than normal yoghourt. Now freeze. Goes really well with the following chocolate recipe.
