sK1 is an open source vector graphics editor similar to CorelDRAW, Adobe Illustrator, Freehand, or Xara X. The project goals are Opensource solution for printing industry. Therefore sK1 is oriented first of all for PostScript processing.
In general, sK1 is a Sketch [L1 ] fork.
Sk1 forked from Skencil in order to preserve and extend the Tk GUI to the Python core, the project leads thought that Skencil's migration to GTK+ was a mistake.
PZ sK1 development was restarted: "...since supporting the old toolkit was starting to take too much time. Mere 2-3 years ago we still had some hopes for Tcl/Tk 8.5-8.6, but alas it was a defeat. So we also had to find a new toolkit, and the choice was between GTK+ and Qt". Finally "... we decided to go for GTK+."
