Bad Thing: an occurance that has no (some might qualify and say "easily seen") positive benefits.
In general, you might hear someone say that it is a bad thing to mix Tcl list- and string-oriented commands against variables - unless the developer knows what they are doing, they end up generating an error or at the very least unexpected and unwanted results.
When using Tk, the common response to a bad thing is Don't do that.
