Version 8 of Chicago Area Tcl Users Group

I've started to think about a second meeting:

Siam's House has been suggested:

  Siam's House / EAOA aIeOEi
  7742 N. Milwaukee,
  Niles, IL. 60648
  Tel. 847-967-2390

It's just north of Touhy & Howard, so a bit easier for suburban
folks and O'Hare area folks to get to.

This sounds good to me.

Suggested topics? I am excited about the new sockets package. Perhaps we can play around with it and report on it at the meeting.

For anyone curious about the first meeting:

The first meeting was at Sun Wah on W. Argyle, Feb 6 at 8:00 pm. I can add more details later. Four of us showed up, and we met and talked about how we use Tcl.

People attending: sheila, add your name here?

I had a few emails from people who were not able to make it, and I am hoping that placing the meeting at a more convenient time and place will pull everyone in.

MDD, will you be able to make a meeting this time?

Potential topics for TUG meetings

Since I work on an automated test platform for box testing, I'd like to trade ideas with people about all things testing. I'm also interested in using the test library for integration testing, and would like to hear success stories about this.

Performance/load testing? Is it really doable with Tcl?

I'm also interested in tutorials or discussions on stubbing old libraries. We have a lot of these from our earlier days and we've just been recompiling with every release of tcl. ugh.

Making faster/better server/clients.

I am self taught and have many gaps in my tcl knowledge and would love to meet people and discuss ideas and learn more in general.

Please add to the list.

On the location of the meetings

I want to include as many people as possible in the Chicago area. Perhaps we can alternate locations -- Chicago, Suburbs, etc. Please post suggestions here. I will also try to find a place more conducive for lecture-type of activities.

In the North West 'burbs, I suggest Coffee Haus in Schaumburg. It has the benefit of internet hookup if you bring a laptop. And it's a nice place to get tea or coffee.

On the frequencey of the meetings

Monthly?

On the Tcl Conference this year

It's just a short drive away. Carpooling?

If anyone will be giving a presentation there, they can beta test it on us.
