Version 0 of Interfacing with XML

Updated 2002-10-29 08:49:45

We have several tools to deal with XML: TclXML, tDOM... which serve the same purpose with different interfaces. Here's a log from the Tcl chatroom discussing how to bring them together:

stevel Richard, has any one mentioned Steve Ball's plea from the conference re XML/TclDOM/tDOM?

suchenwi No - what did he plea for (or against)?

stevel (from memory) he was asking for help in getting the tDOM author to consolidate their efforts, or at least build to a consistent API ... and also for people to look at the XML extensions he provides, which are wrappers for the gnome XML libraries and should be the best/fastest/most portable

arjen That is Jochem Loewer, isn't it? He should be easy to contact (sometimes on the chat and all)

suchenwi Would sure be nice. I'm in contact with Rolf Ade, a co-developer of tDOM (which is also said to be fastest and most economic in memory...) But Jochen Loewer I haven't met yet.

stevel from what Steve was saying, that used to be the case ... plus I also got the impression that the gnome XML libraries are considered the mainstream in the open source world. Also, I think Steve might have done something like StarDOM a few years ago ... it would be a shame to reinvent the wheel
