Version 9 of OpenVerse Visual Chat

Updated 2003-12-30 10:41:57

OpenVerse Visual Chat is an application written in pure tcl/tk which requires no extensions to the language. We are an OpenSource project and welcome any and all help from Tcl programmers around the world.

OpenVerse was written by David Gale.

>UNFORTUNATLY NO ONE IS MAINTAINING IT ANYMORE BECAUSE THE PERSON WHO >CREATED IT QUIT THE PROJECT. YOU CAN FIND SOME INFORMATION AT THEIR NEW >WEB SITE http://openverse.com

The only things that are true here is the new website url, and that the original Author left the project. I am on the devel team myself, and I am currently reworking the setup portion of OV to be modular, and seperated. you can see what it looks like so far at http://www.vileplanet.net/duck_farm.jpg

If you're into fishing you can check out lots of information about that at the following web links. (what's this got to do with tcl? well I guess I use some tcl scripts to make the web sites work ! )

Thanks, and that idea is still going strong as we work towards ov 1.0.

The default server has been and is still running: openverse.com:7000

>openverse.com port 7000, was the room I visited (with 4 ghost like >displayed users!)

Sorry we missed you. It is true, that there isn't a great lot of chat going on in the servers at the moment. We have never had a skill for marketing. We hope as the program matures that it will draw more and more people through word of mouth. We don't have advertising money, or money. We are GPL and demand nothing in return for the work we do. If you see lurkers its likely one of the faithful regs that leave ov connected 24/7, and don't do much actual chatting. (Who knows where they are.)

>Thus, seems that M$ messenger/aim has great future (if everybody "give >up the fight"!)

These are both fine possibilities for *IM* programs (I prefer AOL IM) but we are a visual chat.

>Sadly,

Hopefully Enlightening,

Jeremy M.
