Version 3 of SCTP

"Stream Control Transmission Protocol" complements TCP and UDP. Useful reading includes "SCTP for Beginners" [L1 ], the Wikipedia page [L2 ], RFC 2960 [L3 ], a Networksorcery explanation [L4 ] and http://www.sctp.de/ .

Here are two important facts about SCTP:

  • it's designed to transport PSTN (telephony) over IP; and
  • the third (that is, the posthumous) edition of Stevens' book [give reference] covers it.

The big question for Tclers is whether Tcl deserves an SCTP-savvy extension. Is ceptcl a good location?
