Loads of great discussions again this week, of which we can only mention a couple here. There were a few new software and resource announcements, and a couple of others we managed to sleuth up. Note also the addition of Scriptics' evangelism site in our regular list of resources.
- The addition of new widgets in Tk 8.2 is a good opportunity to try out the model where the Tcl/Tk core consists of the kernel plus loadable modules (see [L2 ])
- The same thread also discusses issues relating to the difficulty of managing both packages and standalone binaries (thread [L3 ])
- The first beta release of TclPro 1.2 is available (see [L4 ])
- Jeffrey Hobbs posted a speedup patch for the Tk libraries, cleaning up their Tcl code (bracketed expr, string compare...) (see [L5 ])
- Andrew Friedl is looking for people to continue work on his TclOCX/AxTcl project (see [L6 ])
- A new commercial GUI builder for Tcl/Tk, VisualGIPSY, is out http://www.prs.de/int/products/vg/index.shtml
