Version 52 of Jean-Claude Wippler

Hi, you can find my personal pages at http://www.equi4.com/jcw/ , which is part of my company website at http://www.equi4.com/ - I can be reached at mailto:[email protected]

There's no need to explain Wikit here, since it has a page of its own. Nor the Metakit database, the Tclkit deployment package, the concept of a Starkit, or the Critcl build system. Good, so that's out of the way...

There are several places for discussion about both the content (Comments on the Tcl'ers Wiki), and the implementation of this site (Suggestions for Wikit). The whole idea of Wiki is fascinating, but can also be confusing (see Wiki Gripes).

Finding things in such a place as this can be, eh, challenging. I find the Search facility (with tips on Searching and bookmarking URLs on the Tcl'ers Wiki), the Recent Changes list, and pages such as Tcl'ers and Acronym collection to be quite workable. Many new starting points will turn up in the New pages section, no doubt.

Pages I've set up recently (from end 2001 onward):

-jcw

Harry Robinson Mister Wippler, 24.157.13.82 has posted repeatedly on C2 wiki a link to the first revision of this page for about 2 weeks now. This is damaging Mister Abitbol's reputation tremendously. Mister Abitbol has just filed criminal charges against this individual for stalking, harrassment and uttering death threats; he has also filed a complaint to the IP ([email protected]).

By keeping this page and its old revisions you are legally putting yourself in a situation of aiding and abetting 24.157.13.82 with the intent of damaging Mister Abitbol's reputation. This is serious business for which you could be held responsible as an internet publisher in a court of law. Mister Abitbol is also talking of asking for punitive damages in a civil court.

I don't want to be the devil's advocate here but since this page and its revisions are personal business between Mr GPS and Mr Abitbol and they do not concern you in any way nor concern anyone else, since they can only hurt Mister Abitbol's reputation and he has asked you repeatedly to remove them, doesn't it make more sense to delete them altogether? What do you gain by keeping them? From this perspective it seems you are intent on hurting Mister Abitbol's reputation by insisting on keeping them. Besides I see you deleting all personal messages in all homepages (including mine). Why keep those then?

These few non-sense pages will put you on a collision course with Mister Abitbol and this will eventually be taken to court. So why keep these pages? For the principle?

My personal two cents is never fight for the principle: fight for what is right. Walk a mile in another man's shoe. Use your empathy. Don't do to others what you don't want them to do to you. Would you like to see a Jean Claude Wippler Problem page on another wiki and a person publishing a link every day 10-15 times a day? I am sure not. Therefore you will understand Mister Abitbol's point of view.

I did my share: I have given you my advice and my point of view and I have shared with you some of my experience and wisdom. Now it's up to you to take a wise decision on the matter. Best regards. (HR 31 May 2004)
